Thursday can be your “travel day.” Your hotel reservations and check-in will be available around 3:00 pm if you’ve registered with Gateway Hotel & Convention Center through the website. There are no scheduled Rotary activities for Thursday evening, but there will still be plenty of things to do. This website will provide entertainment and activity opportunities available in the area. Or you can just sit back and relax at the hotel and enjoy dinner at the restaurant and bar, try the heated indoor pool, or get in a workout at the onsite fitness center.

The Rotary Club of Flint is excited to have you join us for this year’s district conference. We have a great lineup of speakers, programs, and activities for you to enjoy and learn from.

You may begin registering for the conference at 10:00 am in the hotel lobby. Suggested attire throughout the day is Rotary casual.

Our Rotary activities will begin on Friday at 12:00 pm with your requested attendance at the Rotary Club of Flint’s weekly meeting. A special program is being planned for our gathering and lunch will be included as part of this event.

At the conclusion of the meeting, our conference will begin with a welcome from District Governor Mike Chaffee who will give us an overview of what to expect throughout the weekend before kicking things off with our “official” opening session Friday afternoon.

Following this session and a brief break, we will reconvene for our first plenary session. After this session and some Rotarian free time, we will reassemble at the hotel lobby at 6:00 pm for the District Governor’s Reception, which will include a cocktail hour, dinner, and entertainment to close out the evening.

Saturday, June 24, 2023

Saturday kicks off early with registration and breakfast at the hotel. Conference activities begin after breakfast and include plenary and breakout sessions for a full day of interesting and inspiring programs. There will be regular breaks with lunch provided midday. Snacks and drinks will be available to keep your energy up. Saturday’s suggested dress is Rotary casual, with business attire recommended during dinner.

Just before our midday lunch break, the traditional Rotary Youth Exchange “Parade of Flags” will take place celebrating our engagement with Rotary youth.

Sessions will end early evening, followed by the Rotary International Foundation Reception. Dinner will be served in the hotel banquet room with entertainment for your enjoyment.

For our non-Rotarian guests, several activities will be happening in the Flint area while the conference is taking place. The “Wings Over Flint” Air Show at Bishop International Airport, the Sloan Museum of Discovery Auto Fair, a USL professional soccer game with the Flint City Bucks, and other fun events are being planned with Explore Flint & Genesee, our local tourism bureau. After a full day of fun, be sure to come back and join your fellow Rotarians at 6:45 pm for “dinner and a show.” Suggested dress for dinner is business attire.

Sunday, June 25, 2023

Sunday morning will start with an ecumenical service for all attendees. We will follow with a special memorial service in remembrance of those Rotarians we’ve lost throughout the year. Brunch will be served beginning at 9:30 am after these services. Suggested attire is Rotary casual.

Rotary business will take the stage for the remainder of the conference. District Governor Mike Chaffee will emcee the day’s events, which will feature Rotarian Sonja Glass, 2024 District Governor, who will outline her plans for the upcoming Rotary year.

DG Mike will close out the presentation around 11:00 am with the traditional Gift Exchange and Rotary Youth Exchange closing flag ceremony. By noon on Sunday, we will be saying goodbye and looking forward to meeting again soon in Rotary service.
